August 05, 2012 STURBRIDGE — After earning a fellowship from the American Cancer Society, a former Tantasqua Regional High School student is spending the summer working in a cancer research lab at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Sally Chamberland, who will be a senior at Union College this fall, was ecstatic to learn that she had been awarded the fellowship.
"I didn't tell any of my family about the application because I knew how much I wanted this position and what a great opportunity it would be. I didn't want to let them see how disappointed I would be if I didn't get it," Chamberland said. "When I got the e-mail telling me I had been chosen, I reread the e-mail three or four times because I just couldn't believe how lucky I was to be offered this position."
